Day 5 - Blythe, CA to Wickenburg, AZ - 115 Miles - 3900 feet climbing

Hello Everyone,

It's past my bedtime so just a short post. Even though today was a longer ride, I finished strong and feel in much better shape than yesterday. We had pretty calm winds with around 95F temp, however, it wasn't like the humid 95 that we have back in Iowa. Keeping our heads, neck scarves (for sun protection), and shirts wetted down, the evaporative cooling felt quite cool. It was a long day as I was on the road, from 7:15 this morning until 6:45 this evening (including breaks).

Loading baggage and signing out early this morning.

Our first state line crossing - into Arizona.

The day is looking promising.

I believe I am standing beside a Yucca Tree.

Tomorrow will be another trying day as the climb to Prescott will be the largest daily climb of the entire trip.

Bye for now and thanks for the comments.

Bob

Good work bob, still following you blog. I am wondering if the most exteme part of the ride is behind you? Outside of some pretty bad wind sounds like the temps have been extremely favorable. One interestig thing is the fact that of the original 8 blogs you sent me you and one other person are updating yours. It seems like once you guys hit the desert people stopped blogging.

Hi Bob! This is April. It sounds like you are having a terrific ride. I hope to see some pictures. What desert did you cross? Have a great next couple of days. I enjoy reading your blog.

Wow! You have done it. You have the two hardest days behind you. Yes the ride in to Prescott is a long one but it is already 20F lower. You are lucky Tracy held us until 8:00 last year and that 45 minutes in the desert is a long time. Now is time to have some fun. Keep on riding!
