Day 45 - Mon, June 23 - Syracuse, NY to Little Falls, NY - 78 miles - 2500 feet climbing

Today was another great day of riding. We woke to rain at 5pm but the storm was just moving out of the area. There was a 60% forecast of rain for our entire route today but non materialized while I was on the road. The temperatures were in the 60's rising to the middle 70's - very comfortable for riding. We also had light tailwinds. Again, we had bike-lane shoulders on which to ride except through a couple of villages where traffic was a bit close.

This building was labeled as the "Greystone Castle". We were not sure what it was used for but it was in excellent condition.

A barge canal which is still in use.

Our second sag stop of the day, at around 50 miles, was provided by Catholic Charities for whom our rider, Don Berens, of Latham, NY, is raising funds during his cross country ride. The snacks were much appreciated.

Cleaning up the bikes after today's ride. Each motel on our ride provides a wash station and rags with which to clean up our bikes each day. Although they don't always need it, today our bikes were splattered up from the morning's wet roads from the rain during the night. Our tour company provides the cleaning fluids and lubricants and the hotel provides the hose and rags.

Our ride tomorrow of 69 miles to Albany, NY, is considered a short ride so we will start an hour later at 8am. We often start an hour later on short-ride days so that we don't get into the motel before the rooms are ready and have to sit around the lobby in sweaty clothes.

Thanks for the comments and bye for now,

Bob
